This is an easy to make kibble gravy that is done with a can of ground dog food (aka loaf). Works as a flavor enhancer.
Some notes before beginning:
- Since this recipe uses canned dog food this prevents potential issues with using stock, namely the toxicity of onion and garlic.
- Do not use chunky food packed in gravy.
- Serving Size Suggestion: Only two tablespoons per half cup of kibble is needed.
- If you’re nervous or unsure talk to your veterinarian before proceeding.

La Cuisson
- Empty the contents of the dog food can into a saucepan.
- Use the empty can to measure 1.5 cans of water and add to the saucepan.
- Break up the loaf and bring the mixture to a boil.
- In a ramekin whisk together 1 tablespoon of cold water with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until smooth.
- Stir the slurry into the saucepan and let thicken by boiling for one minute.
- Remove the saucepan from heat.
- Let cool for 15 minutes and then blend the contents of the saucepan until smooth.
Once the blended gravy has completely cooled, keep refrigerated in a food safe container. Choose something that will allow for dispensing a little bit with each meal like a glass container with a pour spout.
